Frequently Asked
Questions.

What is mastering?

Mastering is both an artistic and technical process. It ensures that your work translates well across a variety of media, playback systems and contexts.

What should I send you?

I can work from almost anything, but the best practice would be to send 24-bit wav files with some headroom, at the native sample rate of the project, and without any kind of normalisation. If you're having trouble with this, I'm here to help.
Please make sure that your track starts and ends with enough silence so that note decays and reverbs are not abruptly cut off. Also, feel free to include anything that can help me get into the project: lyrics, visuals, pictures, ... I always love to get them!

How long does it take?

Single tracks can be done in less than 24 hours. Albums usually take at least a week, sometimes two if I'm especially busy. However, if you need your projects done sooner, feel free to contact me so we can work something out.

Do you offer stem mastering?

No, but I'll be happy to give you some advice so that you can finish your mix with confidence.

Do you offer restoration/digitisation?

Yes, although it's better to ask me precisely what you need first. I can work with cassettes quite easily. 1/4" tape is also possible if planned well in advance.

Do you cut vinyl lacquers?

Unfortunately I can't offer this service at the moment. However, I very often prepare music for vinyl reproduction and supply so-called vinyl pre-masters which are used for cutting and reproduction.

Can I ask you a technical question/mixing advice?

Of course you can! I'm happy to help. Feel free to ask me anything and I'll get back to you when I have some time.
